Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is currently hiring a Manager 2, Aerodynamics & Vehicle Performance (Section Manager) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in Melbourne, FL. This position reports to the Flight Sciences Department Manager within the Vehicle Engineering functional homeroom team. This hands-on leadership role will manage the functional engineering activities of approximately ten engineers who are responsible for meeting aircraft Aerodynamics Performance and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) design and analysis program needs. Approximately 20% of the role will be performing functional homeroom duties such as attending functional staff meetings, management of personnel (performance reviews, direction & coaching), and coordination of job assignments, staffing, and recruiting. These responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Product integrity, process adherence, staffing, training, and tools. Process oversight, participation in the performance review process, management of personnel records and participation in corrective or disciplinary actions. Staffing responsibilities such as hiring, recruiting of personnel and working to ensure that engineers with the appropriate skills and experience are deployed. Managing training opportunities and budget allocations, as well as participation in tool, process, and metric initiatives is required. Team engagement is a key focus as is mentoring and providing career guidance and coaching. The remaining time will be spent performing IPT engineering tasks related to Aerodynamics, Performance, and/or CFD, which will comprise approximately 80% of the statement of work.
