To provide safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as well as performing expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime and improve total fleet reliability. Responsibilities include performing required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the fleet lifecycle; performing FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles including tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment in accordance with federal, state and local regulations; performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on all fleet vehicles and equipment including refrigeration units and lift-gates; addressing all Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write ups timely and efficiently; diagnosing malfunctions and performing repairs to manufacturer specifications on engines, transmissions, clutches, drive-line, differential, steering, suspension, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust systems, intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems, and lift-gate hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems; documenting all work performed; mentoring and teaching Fleet Technician I and II; performing moderate supervisory roles when needed; proficient in electrical meter testing and knowledge of controls and electric low voltage; completing electrical repairs and welding projects as needed. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, current and valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required), 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair or medium/heavy duty truck technical training with 4 years experience, preferred certifications such as Annual Inspector Certification, Brake Inspector Certification, ASE certifications, EPA HVAC & Refrigeration Certification. The role requires expert knowledge and skills in vehicle systems, electrical and refrigeration systems diagnosis and repair, preventive maintenance inspections, moderate welding skills, computer skills, knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA safety regulations, environmental regulations, and use of diagnostic software. Physical demands include frequent sitting, standing, walking, use of hands and fingers, lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, and working in various environmental conditions including outdoors and non-traditional hours. The job requires the technician to provide own tools except diagnostic equipment and major tools provided by Sysco. The position offers a pay range of $30.38-$45.58 per hour based on experience, sign on bonus up to $7,500, night shift differential, uniforms paid for, annual boot and tool allowance, and outstanding benefits.
