This Operating Company (OpCo) based position will lead the implementation of prevention-focused health, safety and environmental (HSE) and security program. The position will establish, execute and deliver OpCo-specific strategy that supports Sysco's overall HSE objectives, including security and crisis preparedness objectives. Responsibilities include developing HSE strategy in cooperation with Operational management, developing effective HSE plans to reduce injuries, accidents, and incidents, communicating HSE strategy with Senior Leadership, supporting site management in HSE plan implementation, designing metrics to track progress and drive accountability, developing and implementing training programs, establishing audits to identify compliance gaps, supporting creation of HSE goals for site management and leadership, leading hazard identification and control systems, leading incident investigations, providing training on root cause analysis, interfacing with regulatory bodies (OSHA, DOT, EPA, State/Local Regulators), facilitating annual HSE training plans, developing interdepartmental relationships, assisting facilities management with regulatory permits and reports, achieving targets for incident frequency, severity and cost reductions, demonstrating problem solving and organizational skills, acting as a change leader, facilitating HSE engagement through teams and committees, promoting zero-incident HSE culture, supporting emergency preparedness plans, monitoring regulatory changes, assisting with training programs, implementing early return to work programs, performing management functions including staff selection and performance reviews, enforcing company policies, maintaining associate relations and morale, and ensuring compliance with physical and working conditions requirements. Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, 5-7 years of hands-on environmental and safety experience in warehousing/distribution, manufacturing, or transportation, experience with occupational safety, transportation safety, and environmental compliance preferred, safety certification (CSP) or working toward it, valid Driver's License, strong safety background, analytical skills, employee relations and communication skills, leadership and team-building skills, proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software, ability to learn Sysco technology, and physical ability to perform job functions. The position requires limited travel to Sysco facilities and is performed at assigned operating company facilities.
