Patient Care Technician - PCT - Dialysis Preceptor

Functions as part of the dialysis health care team in providing safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with organization policies, procedures, and training and in compliance with regulations set forth by the corporation, state, and federal agencies. Responsible for the setup and operation of hemodialysis machines. Assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean working environment. Supports the organization commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and CQI Activities, including those related to patient satisfaction and actively participates in process improvement activities that enhance the likelihood that patients will achieve the organization Quality Enhancement Goals (QEP).Principal duties include patient education, treatment initiation and monitoring, vascular access evaluation and cannulation, administration of heparin, vital signs monitoring, documentation, infection control, and participation in Continuous Quality Improvement activities. The role also involves staff-related responsibilities such as recruitment, orientation, training, competency evaluations, and collaboration with clinical managers and education coordinators. Additional duties include maintaining environmental integrity, cleaning and disinfecting equipment, record keeping, and supporting transitional care unit patients. The position requires physical demands such as lifting, standing, and bending, and may involve travel between facilities.Education and licenses required include a High School diploma or G.E.D., valid PCT national or state certification, and attendance in training programs. Experience preferred is at least five years in patient care in a hospital or related facility. The job also includes tasks related to the Home Therapies Program under supervision of a registered nurse, such as assisting with home visits, patient education, supply management, and clerical duties.The job is located onsite in Framingham, MA, and is full-time with no remote work option.
