You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations. BioLife Plasma Services is a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd. About the role: You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The role requires familiarity with plasma collection industry regulations or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance from BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS). Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE). Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care. Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues. Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees. Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation. May act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of recognized nursing program with state requirements; currently licensed or certified as LPN or LVN in the state of assignment; current CPR and AED certification; fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy; complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist; two years clinical or hospital experience.
