Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking a Sr. Staff Manufacturing Engineer for the Advanced Ceramics Facility (ACF) manufacturing cell. ACF develops, manufactures and delivers leading-edge discriminating products, while incorporating the latest materials, technology and processing to meet or exceed customer expectations. The Sr. Staff Manufacturing Engineer will provide manufacturing technical support and direction to fabricate ceramic substrates for next generation RF hardware and IR Camera Substrates. This position will be responsible for supporting all processes in ACF. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below: Outlining roadmaps for technical strategy of the Manufacturing Engineering team in the cell, Training and mentoring mid career engineers in their technical development and knowledge of processes and materials, Serving as the lead technical liaison for manufacturing of Ceramic Substrates, including consulting with next higher assemblies and other key stakeholders, Consulting with vendors and supply base for materials and equipment specialized to the ceramics industry, Serving as the PCCB Chairperson, ensuring any and all process changes are being done in a manner compliant with requirements and best practices, Driving strategic initiatives to monitor and visualize process data inputs and outputs; SPC and key variable monitoring, to drive process stability, Solving of manufacturing problems related to materials, designs, equipment, people in a timely manner to support production, Consulting on or overseeing the development of new and maintaining existing manufacturing processes with a focus on affordability and quality, Consulting on or overseeing the development and optimizing of process parameters, Consulting on or overseeing the development and revising of process documentation and work instructions, Overseeing the creation, validation and maintenance of automatic equipment programs, Consulting on the training of new personnel and participating in the design of operator training materials, Supporting factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment, Leading/facilitating Root Cause & Corrective Action investigations and driving to closure, Supporting capital equipment projects from MTA and Down select, through procurement, installation and release for production use, Oversight of pre-production Manufacturing Readiness Reviews, Driving Improvements on key process indicators, including yields, cost and process capability, Recommending and implementing process changes that improve safety, quality, cost and schedule based on the above metrics. The chosen candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be able to multi-task in a fast-paced, dynamic, and high visibility environment; and work well as part of a team. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in Materials Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering, with a focus in Ceramic or other similar Materials Fabrication/ Manufacturing, Relevant experience: at least 14 Years with Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 10 Years with PhD, Project Management and Process Engineering experience, Experience consulting from a systems level on relevant products, Experience leading and developing Engineers in a manufacturing Environment, Familiarity with Design of Experiment (DOE), Statistical Process Control (SPC), 6 sigma concepts for process development and control, Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Fluency in MS Office software applications, Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship is required). Preferred Qualifications: Ceramics manufacturing engineering experience, Authored publications associated with Ceramics or other similar materials engineering developments, requirements or processes, Familiarity with Industry Process Specifications such as MIL-STD-883 and IPC-A-600/6012 or other similar industry specs, Familiarity with RF Engineering principles and radar functions, Demonstrated ability to work in cross-discipline environments and drive solutions to complex problems, Experience driving IRAD or other similar early stage development projects, Experience with Matlab, VBA and/or similar, Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, NX or similar), Experience with Minitab or other statistical analysis software, Experience with SAP MRP software, Experience with the Siemens Teamcenter Manufacturing software tool suite and Manufacturing Process Planning.
